Based on some of their recent social media activity, it looks like both 50 Cent and J Cole could be planning to release new albums this year.
50 Cent took to social media to congratulate his longtime friend and collaborator Eminem on a tremendous 2022 in music, and threw some interesting hints in his post.
“That’s my Boy, Im gonna remind people I’m nice this year. New Music. New Tv New Movie let’s go,” wrote 50 on his Instagram account this week.
The rapper hasn’t released a full-length album in 9 years since 2014’s Animal Ambition. He also dropped The Kanan Tape mixtape back in 2015 which was his last project. There are no other details available on the possibility of a new project from the mogul at the moment.
J. Cole also sent fans in a frenzy when he deleted everything off of his Instagram. His followers immediately began speculating on a possible follow-up to 2021’s The Off Season.
Cole released a schedule for his album plans back in 2020 which was labeled as “The Fall Off Era”. The Off Season was the first project on the schedule which seemed to drop in a timely fashion following the initial announcement. The next planned album, according to the schedule, would be titled It’s a Boy, however, artists frequently change their plans, so there are no guarantees Cole will still be using his original layout.
There’s also no official word from the rapper on if he’s planning to drop new music in 2023.
50, on the other hand, is long overdue for releasing music. His main focus has been on his TV projects for the past few years. After achieving success with ‘Power’ on Starz, his series ‘BMF’ was greenlit and met with critical acclaim. He’s also produced other series including ‘Raising Kanan’ and ‘For Life.’
